Belly button issues

Okay so this is just what I heard today. Feel free to comment with more information. Ahem...

Japanese people don't clean their belly-buttons because they are afraid it will unravel. I swear!My boss just mentioned it. Then one of my co-workers said, "No it's true. I was dating this Japanese girl before I met my wife and one day I noticed she had belly-button lint so I kindly removed it for her. When she saw what I did she said, 'No put it back!' and was dead serious because she said it would unravel."

And I thought I had heard everything.

I've heard that one too, only without the unravelling bit. Poking around in your bellybutton will make you really, really sick! You'll end up hospitalized! It happened to a friend of mine! Blah blah blah.

And everybody believes it.

The Koreans feel the same about the belly button. The Asian barbers will clean your ear canals after the hair cut. It's a taboo in the US. It's somewhat painful but rather a pleasurable sensation to have the ear cleaned. It's all matter of a custom
