Dolphins have people eyes!

Maybe its because I've only paid attention to regular fish, or maybe its because I?ve seen too many episodes of Spongebob lately but I was shocked to find out that dolphins have people eyes?.actually more like dog eyes. The iris is surrounded with white and you see this plain as day when a dolphin is looking at you out of the corner of his or her eyes. I had always thought of dolphins as intelligent mammals but seeing their eyes up close made me feel even closer to them. Its one thing to see them do tricks and know that they are intelligent but when you can look into their eyes and see a soul, well that?s downright humbling and, well a real eye opener!
Okay okay?what does this have to do with Japan? My whole family was able to swim and play with the dolphins at the Renaissance Resort on Route 58 half way up to Nago for a mere Y10,000! It was a dream come true for me.

I don't have digital pictures of us in the water with the dolphins but a photographer took a bunch of us. If I have time I will digitalize them somehow.
So I had always imagined how soft and slippery a dolphin would feel and I was right but it was also different. They are soft but feel more like...well a fish and not like rubbery or something. The one thing that really got to me was how delicate they felt. They're sort of squishy or at least when you touch their side you easily press into them and feel the fat layer. Their bellies feel thin like there's not much protection and the fins felt delicate too and I didn't want to grab them too hard even though I know they are strong and can pull us around with them. Dolphins are amazing creatures. Oh and they have fish breath - I got a whiff of it and it made me laugh.
Most of all, the people eyes really got to me. In one of our printed pictures you can just barely see the whites. I will try to get it online soon.
